Vancouver Canucks Movie - Celebrating Not Winning and Stuff
November 7, 2008
People make sports movies for lots of reasons.
Like being a massive underdog and winning anyway, or coming together as a team to overcome adversity, overthrowing racism and indifference, or even just to celebrate the awesomeness of what its like to be on a team.
There is usually a common thread running through these movies, and it usually pertains to one of two things:
Winning, or losing…a lot.
Your team won a championship? Hell, make a damn movie. Lose for 80 or 100 straight years? Sure, make a damn movie.
But…wallow in perpetual mediocrity for 38 years? Make a movie?

7th Man meets quiet, uneventful demise.

It’s gone!?!
Yes, I think its gone.
We’ve been ranting about the redonkulous Canucks 7th man bulls*** for a while here at GoCanuckYourself, starting with this post, then chiming in on the CDC message boards HERE and HERE. And have even made and exclusive Canucks Fan Quotes 7th Man edition post on our site.
All dedicated to the lamest marketing ploy I’ve seen by a pro sports team since free AA battery night at a Springfield Isotopes game.
And I think that officially, we might have killed it.

Pavol Demitra - Deleriously Awesome
July 8, 2008
Ok, I’d be as stoked as you to land Demitra…but there’s something a tad disturbing about this quote he gave while apparently high:
“I want to play for a team that is going to win, [one] who is going to compete for the playoffs and the Stanley Cup.”
This means one of two things: A) He’s planning on signing for 5 years, or 2) He’s huffing gas in the offseason. Read more

Bye Nazzy, Adios Brendan, Sayanora Linden, Good effing riddance Jozef Balej…?
So…is the sky falling enough for you yet? Holy balls.
Now, I guess I’m a fan of the whole “rebuild” thing, but there’s a part of this house cleaning that’s leaving me a tad perturbed. The biggest part being Luongo (You will never EVER see us use the single worst nickname in the history of sports-dom on this site, I mean bobby- Lou? F*#* right off.) Read more
